On April 30, 2020, the Ontario Government published a series of reopening guidelines to support industries through the gradual reopening of the economy. The guidelines come a week after the government released a 3-stage framework for reopening the province.
The published resources consist of safety guidelines developed to protect employers, employees, customers, and the general public from COVID-19.
The guidelines are sector-specific and include recommendations and tips for employers on maintaining safe workplaces, as well as advice on preventative actions, including physical distancing and workplace sanitation. The resources also include sector-specific posters aimed at encouraging habits and actions supporting workplace health and safety. The Ontario Government has provided guidance notes and posters for the following sectors:
- Construction sector
- Food processing sector
- Restaurant and food services sector
- Agriculture sector
- Manufacturing sector
- Long term care sector
As new sectors of the economy are opened, additional safety resources will be made available.
Additionally, a series of technical guidance documents are available for employers in the following sectors:
- Health Care
- Police Services

We will continue to monitor developments related to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workplace and will post further updates as information becomes available.
