Ontario Government Publishes Reopening Guidelines

On April 30, 2020, the Ontario Government published a series of reopening guidelines to support industries through the gradual reopening of the economy. The guidelines come a week after the government released a 3-stage framework for reopening the province.

The published resources consist of safety guidelines developed to protect employers, employees, customers, and the general public from COVID-19. 

The guidelines are sector-specific and include recommendations and tips for employers on maintaining safe workplaces, as well as advice on preventative actions, including physical distancing and workplace sanitation. The resources also include sector-specific posters aimed at encouraging habits and actions supporting workplace health and safety.  The Ontario Government has provided guidance notes and posters for the following sectors:

  • Construction sector
  • Food processing sector
  • Restaurant and food services sector
  • Agriculture sector
  • Manufacturing sector
  • Long term care sector

As new sectors of the economy are opened, additional safety resources will be made available.
